In the hospital
At home
Kids and families can help with medication safety in the hospital in a few ways. First, know the medications you are taking, when you should take them, the dose, and what the medication is for.
Kids can be medication checkers and serve as a double-checker in the safety process. It gives them a chance to be involved in their care and identify their name and date of birth on any medication that is given.
Keeping medicines out of the reach of children is a great first step to staying safe with medicines.
Kids should know not to take medicines that aren’t theirs.
