Captains of the Team

Working toward the best outcomes for our son requires us to become team captains. We take into account the talents and knowledge of all members of the team: specialists, therapists and nurses. Each team member is responsible for some element of our child’s care, and working together, we make decisions that work for him. We have to look at the whole picture and make sure that it all fits together for the best care for our son.

Our vision for our child is simple: we want him to reach his potential in every way. We get to see him grow and thrive, and we help him to reach the goals that all of his therapists and doctors have for him. Ultimately, we are responsible for his success until he can take the reins.

This video is part of the Beyond the Frame project at Promedica Toledo Children’s Hospital to explain the principles of patient- and family-centered care. The care our son receives at TCH is awesome, and I hope other families have similar experiences of excellent care, communication, participation and collaboration. #BeyondtheFrame
